Javier Heredia
Singer/Dancer
Born in Seville, Javier Heredia
inherited a knowledge of cante and baile casero from his father and his grandfather. He worked on the docks of Seville's
Guadalquivir River until his talent as a singer-dancer was recognized by the patriarchs of Seville's flamenco
community.
He toured as a soloist with Manuela Carrasco's company in 2004 and has performed repeatedly in the Bienal de Sevilla, the
Mont de Marsan
Festival in France and other important Spanish flamenco festivals. He has toured the USA as a member of
Arte y Pureza and has worked with Jose Mercé,

amongst others.
"...a triumph!"

Gallardí" Ocampo

into
the family's company and she has performed throughout Spain and the US with "Alma Vieja" and "Familia Farruco".

and assistant director of Arte y Pureza Flamenco Company. She currently
resides in Lebrija, Spain with her husband, Ethan
Margolis.
"As guided by master guitarist Ethan

dramatic figure
on-stage this year."

“LA TEMPESTAD” DANCES AGAIN
After a long absence, “La Tempestad”, returns to the stage.
Come and join the festivities as Tempestad celebrates her birthday and her come-back to the Houston flamenco scene at Café
Byblos on Thursday, June 25 at 8 PM. Featured guest artists Valdemar Phoenix, master flamenco guitarist, and Lucia
Rodriguez-Sanchez, flamenco singer, will join Cuadro “La Tempestad” for an evening of “flamenco puro”
in an authentic gypsy juerga.
It has been approximately six months
since that horrible day back in December when a driver ran a red light and barreled into Tempestad’s car. From
the appearance of her mangled car, Tempestad was lucky to be alive but her promising flamenco career came to a halt.
A severely fractured arm and sprained foot, a fractured rib and vertebrae required
some surgery and months of grueling physical therapy. With determination and perseverance, Tempestad overcame
all physical obstacles and is now ready to get back to her flamenco life with new confidence and high energy.
After having passed up many performing opportunities, Tempestad will light up the
stage with her fierce presence and fiery footwork. The performance will include old favorites and some new dances.
