After a long absence, “La Tempestad”, returns to the stage.
Come and join the festivities as Tempestad celebrates her birthday and her come-back to the Houston flamenco scene at Café
Byblos on Thursday, June 25 at 8 PM. Featured guest artists Valdemar Phoenix, master flamenco guitarist, and Lucia
Rodriguez-Sanchez, flamenco singer, will join Cuadro “La Tempestad” for an evening of “flamenco puro”
in an authentic gypsy juerga.
It has been approximately six months
since that horrible day back in December when a driver ran a red light and barreled into Tempestad’s car. From
the appearance of her mangled car, Tempestad was lucky to be alive but her promising flamenco career came to a halt.
A severely fractured arm and sprained foot, a fractured rib and vertebrae required
some surgery and months of grueling physical therapy. With determination and perseverance, Tempestad overcame
all physical obstacles and is now ready to get back to her flamenco life with new confidence and high energy.
After having passed up many performing opportunities, Tempestad will light up the
stage with her fierce presence and fiery footwork. The performance will include old favorites and some new dances.

Message from Tempestad:
First & foremost, I would like to thank all who supported
me in my return to the tablao since my car wreck last December. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and to
welcome new ones to the Houston Flamenco family. I will forever be grateful to all those who stuck by me through this
very trying & difficult time in my life. Your support, loyalty & encouragement for me to get back on my feet
meant the world to me!
Special thanks to my family...most importantly, Mama Flamenca!, because without Mama
none of this would be possible for not only me, but for so many of us who adore flamenco!...to all of our AMAZING students...it
makes me so proud to see you LIVE flamenco...to Lucia & Val for being our special guests at such a significant event,
& to all our wonderful aficionados & friends!
