Javier Heredia
Singer/Dancer
Born in Seville, Javier Heredia inherited a knowledge of cante and baile casero from his father and his grandfather. He worked on the docks of Seville's
Guadalquivir River until his talent as a singer-dancer was recognized by the patriarchs of Seville's flamenco
community. He toured as a soloist with Manuela Carrasco's company in 2004 and has performed repeatedly in the Bienal de Sevilla, the Mont de Marsan
Festival in France and other important Spanish flamenco festivals. He has toured the USA as a member of Arte y Pureza and has worked with Jose Mercé,
Arcangel, Manuel Molina, El Extremeño, and Juana la del Pipa amongst others.
"...a triumph!"
- New York Times

Cihtli "La Gallardí" Ocampo
Dancer
Described as a "...young, powerful dancer." by Dancemagazine, La Gallardí is known for her strength and power while maintaining an elegance of line that
comes from a lifetime of dancing. She moved to Sevilla, Spain in 1999 to train exclusively with the legendary Farruco family. In 2004 she was incorporated
into the family's company and she has performed throughout Spain and the US with "Alma Vieja" and "Familia Farruco". She was the featured female dancer in the film Exils by Tony Gatlif (Vengo, Latcho Drom) and is currently the lead dancer and assistant director of Arte y Pureza Flamenco Company. She currently
resides in Lebrija, Spain with her husband, Ethan Margolis.
"As guided by master guitarist Ethan
Margolis, [Cihtli] Ocampo may be the most
dramatic figure on-stage this year."
- Pittsburgh Magazine

Ethan Margolis
Guitarist/Director
As director of Arte y Pureza Flamenco Co. Ethan has led his company on two sold-out tours through the U.S.
For the past 9 years Mr. Margolis has been quietly perfecting his craft in Sevilla, Spain where he has become one of the most respected young accompanists in the exclusive circle of Gypsies dedicated to purity. He produced and played on Miguel Funi's latest CD "Aires Gitanos", and has worked with such greats as Concha Vargas, Tomas Perrate, Manuel de Paula, Curro Fernandez, Las Peligros and Joselito Fernandez. His current projects include his Flamenco Rock opera
"Spanish Day" as well as an upcoming U.S. tour with the famed singer Inés Bacán in October of 2009.
"...exemplary musicianship..."

Saludos a Todos!

Message from Tempestad:

First & foremost, I would like to thank all who supported me in my return to the tablao since my car wreck last December.  It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and to welcome new ones to the Houston Flamenco family.  I will forever be grateful to all those who stuck by me through this very trying & difficult time in my life.  Your support, loyalty & encouragement for me to get back on my feet meant the world to me!

Special thanks to my family...most importantly, Mama Flamenca!, because without Mama none of this would be possible for not only me, but for so many of us who adore flamenco!...to all of our AMAZING students...it makes me so proud to see you LIVE flamenco...to Lucia & Val for being our special guests at such a significant event, & to all our wonderful aficionados & friends!

NOW on to new things!!!

Cuadro La Tempestad will be back at Cafe Byblos on Wednesday, July 29, 2009!  We are very excited to be introducing two new flamenco artists to Houston.  Guillermo Serpas, guitarrista, will be joining the Cuadro, & Marisol Monasterio will be making her cante debut!

Please join us at Cafe Byblos on July 29th to welcome Guillermo & Marisol to the tablao!
